Taking a nap on a boat

A Venezuelan sailor gets some nap time on one of the little boats that sail between Curaçao and Venezuela with fruit, vegetables and other goods. These are sold in market stalls on the dockside.

Tall ship and Handelskade

Otrobanda with ship coming in

A ship approaches the entrance channel to the port of Willemstad, the St. Anna Bay. At the end of this entry channel lays the Schottegat area, which houses the oil refinery and dry-dock, a container terminal and cargo wharves.

Caravan selling batidos

All over the island brightly painted caravans sell fruit smoothies called batidos. They are specially made for you from fresh fruit, with or without milk. The choice is all yours!

Ship sailing along the Handelskade

Bon bini means welcome in Papiamentu. This ship just entered the Annabaai and is sailing along the famous Handelskade in Willemstad. These colorful buildings are on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
